How To Stencil Your Concrete Floor – Porch Makeover

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know that the front of our house already has had a few makeovers. Step-by-step we’re transforming this unloved ex-council house into our modern farmhouse dream- all on a budget! It all started with a paint-job of our brown UPVC door (click here for more), next we tackled the overgrowing hedge with roots as big as Mr S’s leg, followed by other unsexy jobs such as applying water sealant around the concrete window frames. The build of our house number flower box from old pallets was much more fun (click here for the tutorial) and made my vision of a welcoming house a bit more of a reality. Fast forward a few weeks later and I finally had THE idea how to transform the unsightly concrete front door step without going spending crazy. Stencilling was the answer!
I came across Dizzy Duck Designs through a bathroom floor stencilling project Angela Rose shared on her blog. They have an amazing variety of different stencils for walls and tiles, but once I saw the KALLAT star tile stencil I knew this was the one for us. Stars have always hold a special place in my heart. The Dizzy Duck Designs stencils come in lots of different sizes, but the best part: they can also create a custom size for you, without any extra costs. I ended up using a 18cm stencil, which they created specially for me. Two days after I put my order in, the stencil already arrived and I couldn’t wait to get started. Bad weather and a ton of other projects in the pipeline meant I had to wait a little bit, but this weekend we finally got round to it. And what can I say: I LOVE it! On my Instagram account (IGTV) you can find a step-by-step stencilling tutorial video. But if you’ve got any other questions, just drop me a message. I’m more than happy to help! Jasmin, the latest addition to the Dizzy Duck team, gave me an interview for my Meet The Makers series, where she gave some top tips for anyone who is thinking of trying out stencilling. You can read all about it here.
Now that I’m totally hooked on stencilling, my mind is buzzing- what else can I stencil?! 🙂 What would you love to give a makeover?
